DID YOU KNOW THAT?

He calls himself The Weeknd because he dropped out of high school and left home when he was 17 years old. He and his friend (Lamar) just left one weekend and didn’t look back! That’s when he tried “The Weeknd” out as a stage name because he didn’t like his real name at the time and he had to drop the E because there was already a Canadian band going by The Weekend.

The Weeknd gave half of the last album he had written (House of Balloons) to Drake and he returned the favor by giving him some fame! (Crew Love, The Ride, & Shot for Me)

For those who have listened to his album House of Balloons, Abel revealed that it’s actually a real place located at 65 Spencer in Parkdale, Toronto.

The Weeknd’s music is inspired by Ethiopian music and in his song “The Hills”, the Ethiopian language is spoken throughout it.

As you may know, his music is inspired by Michael Jackson, which he also blasts before his performances to pump him up! He also covered Dirty Diana.

If you don’t know, XO stands for ecstasy and OxyContin. XO ‘til we overdose.
